A game of boules on Open Day
We look forward to welcoming all families interested in the life of a chorister, to our annual open day in New College Chapel - held this summer on Saturday 19 May. Boys aged three to six can look forward to an afternoon of music, games and interest, followed by a tea for which New College is famous, and a special service of Evensong.
See upcoming events for the date of the next Chorister Open Day (19 May 2012).
The Director of the Choir, Professor Edward Higginbottom, will give an informal presentation about chorister life, and encourage questions from visitors. You will be able to see and hear the choristers rehearsing and playing their instruments, and aspiring choristers can dress up in cassocks and try out processing into chapel and singing in the choir stalls. Current choir families will be happy to give you a first-hand account of life in New College Choir. The atmosphere is informal and relaxed, and we aim to give you as many opportunities as possible to ask questions.
There will be games and activities for visitors and younger siblings in the Cloisters so that parents are free to take part in the sessions in the chapel. Over tea, visitors can talk to current parents and enjoy displays and films of choir life. Staff from New College School will also be present, and will be happy to tell you about the school and chorister scholarships.
Everyone is welcome to a special Evensong at 6.15pm.
If you would like to attend the open day or have more questions about choristerships please contact Edward Higginbottom.
