New College’s label Novum was inaugurated in October 2010 with a release of Monteverdi’s 1610 Vespers, exactly 400 years after the publication of this ground-breaking collection of sacred music. It was immediately seen as an important addition to the discography of the work, being selected by the BBC’s ‘Building a Library’ as the best buy in the mid-price category. The Novum catalogue expands in 2012 with the release of Haydn's Nelson Mass and an anthology of sacred music by Benjamin Britten.

New College Choir is committed to giving its young singers the widest and most challenging experiences possible, reflecting its place within a world-class university. These experiences include taking on 'professional' roles whilst still students and indeed children. For instance, you will find no other recording of Mozart's Requiem where the ages of the soloists range from twelve to twenty-two. This is not simply a reflection of the make-up of New College Choir, but an affirmation of the capacity of young people to astonish us with their skill and depth of understanding.
